The Dual (Double) Degree Program allows students to earn two graduate-level qualifications—one
from KAIST and one from an international partner institution—by completing a shared academic curriculum
and fulfilling specific requirements established by both institutions. Participating students are enrolled at KAIST
to undertake coursework and examinations, and to prepare a thesis in collaboration with both universities.
The credits to be required at KAIST may vary depending on the agreement.
Students are expected to defend their thesis at both institutions, culminating in two separate
qualifications at the same academic level.

The KINS-KAIST International Nuclear and Radiation Safety Master's Degree Program aims to educate and
train overseas professionals in nuclear and radiation safety, with a focus on regulation.
This program, a joint initiative by the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS) and
the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), has been running since 2009.
The International Nuclear Safety School (INSS) at KINS administers the program
in collaboration with KAIST's Department of Nuclear and Quantum Engineering.
The program lasts approximately one and a half years and awards a Certificate of Completion from KINS and
an Engineering Master's Degree from KAIST upon fulfilling the requirements.

No, we do not have the transfer program for international students. If you want to continue your study at KAIST, you have to apply as a freshman student. Instead, KAIST has student exchange programs with more than 200 countries, if you are interested, please visit this website.

We select international graduate students twice a year through spring and fall admissions.
The standard online application for the spring semester is in September and the fall semester is in April. We do not offer rolling admissions.
Requests to defer admission will not be approved. You have to reapply and take an application process again.
Yes, we offer KAIST scholarship to international students. If you are selected as a KAIST scholarship recipient, you are generally exempt from paying tuition and fees. A monthly allowance of 300,000KRW and the national health insurance fee are supported by your advisor/department. But the scholarship amount and conditions are set prior to student’s enrollment based on the merits of the applicant. KAIST scholarship committee will examine exemption of tuition and fees every year.
Applicants with a financial need are able to apply for the scholarship. Select KAIST Scholarship as a means of your financial resources on the form of statement of financial resources in the online application. Scholarship recipients are announced along with final admissions notification.
For the academic year of 2019, Graduate tuition is 12,600,000 KRW for Techno MBA, 15,910,000 KRW for Finance MBA, 4.048,000 KRW for other departments per semester. Graduate dormitory expenses differ from one building to another, but it is approximately over 90,000 KRW a month. Meals are available in on-campus cafeteria at a cost of 4,000~5,000 KRW.
From 2019 Fall Admission tracks, recommendation letters are only received by KAIST recommendation system. Once you complete application payment, each recommender will receive an automated email instructing them how to proceed with their recommendation letters through an online process. But please note that recommendation letters should be received to our system by the document submission due date.

After paying the application fee, neither will you be allowed to modify your application form nor get the fee refunded.
But in case the online application is not completed or needs to be modified after the payment, please send us email at
advanced.adm@kaist.ac.kr then we will change your payment status from “paid” to “not paid” so that you can modify your application.
When you finish modifying your application form, send us email again to change your status from “not paid” to “paid”.
You can’t modify your application on “paid” status and please check your payment status at apply page. Do not pay the application fee twice.

Yes, if you completed your bachelor’s degree in English native speaking country (Guyana, New Zealand, United States, Ireland, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada), you are available to apply to KAIST without English Proficiency Test result.

No, English Proficiency Test Report is a mandatory requirement for all applicants. Applicants whose official/native language is not English must submit the EPT report. Applicants must meet one of the English proficiency test minimum score requirements: TOEFL iBT 83 (PBT 560, CBT 220), TOEIC 720, TEPS 599/New TEPS 326, IELTS (Academic mode) 6.5. Institutional Testing Program (ITP) is not valid.
* EPT Exemption requirement applies to three cases below.
1. Applicants who are nationals of English native speaking countries (Guyana, New Zealand, United States, Ireland, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada) or officially English speaking countries (e.g. India, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Kenya, and etc.) are exempt from submitting the EPT report. An English Lecture Certificate is required for those who studied in officially English speaking countries.
2. Applicants who completed their degree programs (Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral degree) in an English native speaking country are exempt from submitting an EPT report. (English native speaking countries: Guyana, New Zealand, United States, Ireland, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada)
3. Applicants who are already enrolled in KAIST as graduate degree program (MS/PhD) student during the period of application are exempt from submitting the EPT report.
