Professor Soon Heung Chang in Dept. of Nuclear and Quantum Engineering, KAIST, was inaugurated as the 24th President of the Korean Nuclear Society (KNS) on September 1, 2011.
Professor Chang is actively working inside Korea as well as outside Korea. He has been a professor at KAIST since 1982 and a commissioner of the Korean Nuclear Safety Commission since 2009. He served as Vice-President of Operations of KAIST from 2006 to 2010 and was a member of the International Nuclear Safety Advisory Group, IAEA, from 1992 to 1999. Also, his outstanding performance made himself to work as an Associate Editor-in-Chief of American Nuclear Society (ANS) Nuclear Technology in 2004 and the Fellow of the ANS.
The Korean Nuclear Society (KNS) was established in 1969 for the purpose of contributing to the development of nuclear science and technology, pursuing the academic and technological progress, and promoting cooperation between the members.
