Eight NQe professors visited Khalifa University of Science, Technology, and Research (KUSTAR) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), December 12-14, 2010. Headed by Professor Soon Heung Chang (Dean of KUSTAR-KAIST Institute), the delegation was comprised of Professor Jong Hyun Kim (Director of Center for KUSTAR-KAIST Nuclear Cooperation), Professor Sungmin Choi (NQe Dept. Head),
Visiting Professor Byung-Koo Kim, and Professors Gyuseong Cho, Sung Oh Cho, Yong Hoon Jeong, and SeungRyong Cho. They were joined locally by Professors Kun-Jai Lee, Poong Hyun Seong, Changheui Jang, and Jeong Ik Lee who have been loaned to Khalifa University since last September to help the school develop the first nuclear engineering program in UAE. As part of the UAE-ROK agreement to build four nuclear plants of Korean design in UAE, KAIST is required to assist Khalifa University to become a leading science and technology university in the world in a very short time.
The NQe professors participated in the Nuclear Technology Symposium as speakers and discussers and were invited to attend the Khalifa University Graduation Ceremony. President of Khalifa University and the academic executives warmly welcomed the KAIST delegates. The partnership of cooperation between the two schools started in January of this year and its first progress review was also held during the visit.
