1.Students wishing to become a candidate for the doctoral degree are required to pass a Qualifying
Examination within 1.5 year (or 3 semesters) after admitted for the Ph.D. program.
2.The Qualifying Examination can be taken up to three times.The Qualifying Examination is
offered twice a year in January and July.
3.The Qualifying examination has only written test and questionsof Qualifying are taken from
problem bank which is available on NQE webpage.

4.The Qualifying Examination comprised of ten questions and 4 hours in length. The score
for each question is 10 points.

▪Questions of Qualifying are randomly taken from problem bank which is available on NQE
webpage.
5. A Ph.D students should get 50 points or more to passthe Qualifying Examination.
