Prof. Poong Hyun Seong in Dept. of Nuclear and Quantum Engineering at KAIST, was appointed as a Fellow of the American Nuclear Society.
Founded in 1954, American Nuclear Society annually selects scholars who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the nuclear engineering area as Fellows.
Prof. Seong was appointed as a Fellow for his achievements and contributions in the field of nuclear I&C and human engineering, and was announced with three other Fellows at the annual conference of the American Nuclear Society in San Francisco on June 11.
Prof. Seong's research in the field of nuclear I&C and human engineering has contributed greatly to the safety improvement of nuclear power plants through the development of the system for safe operation of nuclear power plants, the system for maintaining nuclear power plants in safe status, and the method of strengthening operator’s effective responsive; it have been globally recognized.
Prof. Seong has served as a president of the Korea Nuclear Society, editor of the international academic journal Nuclear Engineering and Technology, and is currently a member of the Atomic Energy Commission.
